Sunday Morning Burnout
I’m suffering from post-convention(s) burnout and there’s a beautiful post-Hanna day waiting for me out there, so you guys can take over in the comments if you have anything you feel like highlighting. I wanted to add that John Cole is right, CBS News’ Sunday Morning is a pretty great show (never watched it before except for snippets here and there). I caught a lot of it this morning while sipping coffee in bed and really enjoyed what I saw, particularly the features on architect John Lautner (I would love to own one of his houses) and the Hatch, NM Chile Festival.
p.s. Bob Schieffer sucks. His interview with McCain this morning could not have gobbled more balls and, to make it worse, it looked like it was a clear play to get the first interview with Sarah Palin.
p.s.s. I added code to Rumproast’s software to line-break long URLs and words in the comments because they kept breaking the layout. Let me know via the contact email link (top right) if you encounter any problems with it.

You know you’re old when you’re watching CBS Sunday Morning… I mean cool. It’s on in our house almost every week.

Great. Does that mean I’m going to be watching Regis next? BTW, how was the Coen brothers feature? I missed that. I’m really looking forward to their new film.

"Sunday Morning” is quality TV. A 90 minute news program designed by Charles Kuralt in ‘79; its intent was to mimic a Sunday newspaper w/ an item on all aspects of life. Charles Kuralt hosted for about 15 years (after which he hit the road even though CBS offered him a million dollar contract) and it was one of the best shows on the air, period. Now Charles Osgood hosts it, and it’s more than OK, despite the fact that Osgood is an absolute dork, of bow tie proportions! It’s such a great concept, even Osboy has a hard time fucking it up. There’s an art segment AND a music segment just about every week.
I’ve essentially given the show up due in part to how much Osgood bugs me and how much C-Span’s “Washington Journal” entertains me. Toby Tristan Gati’s appearance and the call in discussion of the Georgia/Russia affair was outstanding this morning. “Washington Journal” is 7a-10a every day, and is without doubt very hit and miss. But some guests are fantastic, and it’s always enlightening (and frightening) to “hear America speak” on the telephones. And such.....

Bob Schieffer is a total tool. you should have seen his shows right before the Iraq war and the Sunday after the war started. He was so eager to suck Rummie’s d**k it would have out Jenna Jameson to shame.

I was also a fan of the Charles Kuralt years. It was so good.
Here is a tribute to Charles Kuralt by Charlie Rose after his death in 1997:
