Sunday Palate Cleanser

Saw this at afterdowningstreet:

One sunny day in January, 2009, an old man approached the White
House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he’d been sitting
on a park bench. He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and
said, ‘I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.’

The Marine looked at the man and said, ‘Sir, Mr. Bush is no longer
president and no longer resides here.’

The old man said, ‘Okay’ and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the White House and said
to the same Marine, ‘I would like to go in and meet with President Bush.’

The Marine again told the man, ‘Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Bush is no
longer president and no longer resides here.’

The man thanked him and, again, just walked away.

The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke
to the very same U.S. Marine, saying ‘I would like to go in and meet
 with President Bush.’

The Marine, understandably annoyed at this point, looked at the man
and said, ‘Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking
to speak to Mr. Bush. I’ve told you already that Mr. Bush is no longer
the president and no longer resides here! Don’t you understand?’

The old man looked at the Marine with a big smile and said, ‘Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it.’

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, ‘See you tomorrow,
 Sir.’

Love it. I think I’ll send it to my dad, who insisted on sending me every piece of Obama-hate-crap-spam he could get his hands on prior to the election. He’s a Marine, too…

Beautiful. Music to the ears.

Totally…AWESOME! ‘Nuff said.

If you send that in an e-mail, it’s true.

All hail the intertoobz!

Yeah, totally awesome.  For my part I just relive over and over the moment when MSNBC announced Barack as the winner.  I was SO nervous and then they said an important announcement was coming up. I thought he got a big red state but no, it was the whole thing!!!!  I can’t remember being so happy in a long time.  Just kept thinking “we won our country back!”

I remember this as an anti-Clinton joke.  Nice to see it repurposed for a better cause.

Now that is funny!

Should Hillary be Secretary of State or stay in the Senate?  One of the highly intelligent commenters on Big Pink weights in:

I distinguish truth from image. I don’t think she’d be blamed much for whatever the Senate does with her famously voting against it (filibustering?). It would be harder to dissociate her image as SOS from Obama’s directives. — And then there’s truth. Powel didn’t just get his image tarnished, he really WAS involved in Bush’s deceipt of the UN. I see Hillary wanting to stay out of such traps.

Nope, she should stay in the Senate so she can singlehandedly filibuster Obama’s directives.  Whew, glad that’s settled.
