Sunday Tidbits
Michelle Obama seems to be signaling that she will be much more involved with promoting the new administration’s policies than her predecessor.

Although, as reported by the NY Times, she will not be involved in actual policy making as Hillary Clinton was. In addition to promoting the passage of the Lily Ledbetter Act, she has plans to visit all of the cabinet level agencies to introduce herself and provide support for passage of the stimulus legislation. So far she has visited HUD and the Department of Education and been very well received. Considering her level of education and background, I had thought her previous statement that she would focus on being First Mom and a proponent of military families was admirable but somewhat of a waste of her abilities. I’m pleased to see her broadening her role.
Continuing to provide humor (and perhaps not intentionally) Big Hollywood offered up a few gems that I couldn’t resist sharing:
First, something called Jeffrey Jena spins it’s head wildly and barfs out green pea soup all over Ashley Judd, declaring her to be the personification of all that he detests about evil liberals and all because she had a public school education. Her crimes? Believing in choice and suggesting that a feminist would not vote for McCain/Palin. Her punishment? Barack Obama will probably cap YOUR salary at $500,000 and HOW’D YOU LIKE THEM APPLES LIE-BERAL BITCH, HUH11111!!!!2222234!
The spittle continues to fly as a “comedian” named Steven Crowder plays with the fantasy that Planned Parenthood exists to entice people into having abortions just for the gosh darn fun of it all! His closing shot?
Ever notice how leftists make abortions seem like an “event”? It’s presented as a sort of “fun for the whole family” affair. That’s why they opt to use words and phrases such as “choice” and “women’s health” instead of “kill” or “jamming scissors.” I say, we flip it on them. Instead of calling them “liberals,” let’s call them “Baby-killing, family-destroying, self-serving, Tim Robbins-loving, Biden-muzzling, socialist jackasses.”
See how easy it can be to pull the old switcheroo?
Let me explain how easy it can be for you to get back on your little meds, Steven. Come on now, we’ll have them with a nice hot cup of cocoa too! With marshmallows!
Continuing the hilarity, the resident theater critic StageRight pisses and moans over the popularity of Will Ferrell’s take on the Bush years called “You’re Welcome America, a Final Night with George Bush.” The popularity of the show and the approving comments by reviewers just proves the liberal bias of goddam Broadway too and THAT’s why more conservative stage shows aren’t produced!! Nothing to do with Bush’s 27% approval rating as he left office.
Okay, time to wipe the tears of laughter and get back to reality again.
Final note: The AP and CNN are reporting that Kathleen Sebelius is currently the leading candidate to head HHS. Democratic gov of Tennessee, Phil Bredesen, is also apparently under consideration. I know very little about Bredesen but am reading that some watchdog groups are not happy about that idea. Have also read some concerns that, as a former insurance commissioner, Sebelius would be “in the bag” for the insurance companies. This seems like a bizarre speculation as, from all I can find, she treated her role as being an advocate for the customers of insurance companies and not for the companies themselves and was very effective at it. In fact her resulting popularity led to her election as governor. But is she the person to get this job done? Thoughts?
