Who dat???
Who dat???
Who dat???

It was fun to see Rachel’s show in New Orleans the other night and it would be a nice boost for the city if they won.  So who are they playing?

Go Saints, go Scott Fujita, go Jonathan Vilma, go anything that contributes in any way to the rebuilding of New Orleans.

My prediction:

Saints win 28-24.

Then again back in August, I picked the Ravens to beat the Giants in the Super Bowl, so what do I know.

As a Panthers fan I should be rooting for the NFC South Saints to win.  As a Cincy resident, I should be rooting for the AFC team just 100 miles away.

As a human being, seeing Rachel Maddow in a cowboy shirt and jeans talking cocktails in Nawlins makes this one easy.

Big Easy.

Saints by 9.

I’m hardly a fan (this is the only game I ever watch, and mostly as something to entertain me between the ads), but the Colts sure look like the better team so far.

Ok, the Abe Vigoda/Betty White Snickers commercial rocked.

And because I was laughing at the Snickers commercial, I totally missed the Tebow ad.  Tweeps tell me it was very mild.

@gimme—It was.  I’d bet that most people aren’t politically sensitive enough to even get the message.

This is going to delay 60 Minutes, isn’t it?

Rats.

The Betty White/Abe Vigoda is my favorite so far. It was short and funny.

I want to root for the Saints, but they haven’t kicked into gear yet and are a disappointment. It’s no longer about the game at our house, it’s about the snacks.

I liked the dog/Doritos ad myself.  But the Betty White ad was fun too.  I’m rooting for the Saints for sentimental reasons but the other team (didn’t they used to be in Baltimore?) is looking pretty strong at this point.  Back to fixing dinner.

Okay, Dodge wins.

Will be happy for the Saints if they win, but we’re rooting for the Colts.

Re the Tebow ad, it was totally mild and actually funny and sweet. Don’t know what the fuss was about.

Speaking of commercials, loved the “Late Show” ad with Oprah, Dave, and Jay, and the FloTV ad with Jim Nance. Disappointed Bud Light didn’t show these ads, which are among their best.

Half Time: Dat Who!

Is anyone else sad seeing The Who?

Is anyone else sad seeing The Who?

Eh - it’s only The 1/2 Who.  I’m just glad Pete didn’t break his hip.

Is anyone else sad seeing The Who?

Seeing, no. Hearing them ... eesh. Negative correlation between Daltrey’s looks and voice.

The klutz on the sound board didn’t help matters at all. “Oh dear, someone might be alarmed by that dreadful electric guitar. In fact, maybe we should just wrap a big fluffy towel around every high end note.”

CBS must have gotten a good deal on the same Who songs it already licenses for CSI

Definitely sad.

Definitely sad.

As an aging boomer who used to love The Who I can only echo your sentiments.  Time to hang up the guitars and mikes, guys.  However we saw the Rolling Stones here a couple of years ago (same tour where they were in the Super Bowl) and they were teh awesome.  Mick will not let go of that mike until they pry it out of his cold, dead hands!

My very informal internal poll(basically looking over my Twitter and FB people which represent mostly left, but some right-types) shows that lefties overwhelmingly are rooting for the Saints.

This has turned into one hell of a game!

Heh, Saints by more than 9.  I am pleased. :)

I have a sudden craving for beignets.

Predictions please:
Which fReichtard will be the first to shout SHENANIGANS! because President Obama was rooting for the Saints?

Where is the Puppy Bowl open thread?

Woo hoo! Great game and I won the football pool (1st quarter & final score) at the party I’m at. A very good night!

Kevin, it doesn’t really count as a victory when Soros, ACORN, and Axelrove have the fix in for you. Just saying.

Actually, Balloon Juice and Janeane Garofalo arranged this victory. And Al Gore and his Army of Blow Dryers.

Yay, Saints!  NOLA is on the move now, good luck to y’all!

Ummm, blow dryers?

Where is the Puppy Bowl open thread?

Rats! Forgot the Puppy Bowl! (And Kitten Half-Time Show)

Where is the Puppy Bowl open thread?

It’s sort of become a tradition for my wife & I to tape it watch it the day after the Super Bowl.  Yes, were that sad.  But hey, gotta take some time once a year to watch puppies fight on tv, makes life a smidge more bearable.

Is anyone else sad seeing The Who?

Quite sad.  Daltrey was in slightly better form than Townshend, I’ll break out ‘The Kids Are Alright’tomorrow, that’s a better way to remember that band.

Mrs. Polly, they added disapproving bunny cheerleaders this year to the Puppy Bowl festivities. And I—approve!

One thing I’ll say about the losers:
I can’t remember a more gracious SB losing coach than Caldwell.
It was nice to have a Super Bowl featuring two coaches who seem like human beings as opposed to many of them who act like “I’m a genius/my way or the highway/auditioning for Godhood” assholes.

Re: The Who,Sports Illustrated has a short piece about the recent SB halftime acts.

Re: Touchdown Jesus

I’m not familiar with that particular reading from the Holy Scripture, so can someone explain why one of the youths is giving Jesus a reacharound?

Also, was there some kind of sporting event today?

Also, was there some kind of sporting event today?

Yeah. I think it was the Annual Beating Up Of The Who, but then my grasp of US sports news just comes from reading blogs.
