TEA vs ManaTEE

The Citrus County (Florida) Tea Party Patriots oppose year-round restrictions on boat speeds designed to protect manatees:

Tea Party Patriot Edna Mattos is right, you know: You won’t find a single mention of manatees in the US Constitution. On the other hand, the Founders were well-known for racing their boats at breakneck speeds—year round!—across placid Florida springs.

Moreover, the so-called “Florida” Manatee, although designated the state’s official marine mammal, is actually a subspecies of the West Indian Manatee. So they’re not even Americans.

Kind of hard to hear Ms. Mattos over the parp parp of her clown shoes.

“Tea Party Patriot Edna Mattos is right, you know: You won’t find a single mention of manatees in the US Constitution.”

Nor, I might add, is any mention of Edna Mattos found in the US Constitution.

People get riled up over the dumbest things for the dumbest reasons.

I heart manatees so she can kiss my ass.

I’ve always had a soft spot for manatees too, elisabeth.  The more you listen to TeePees the more you get that their primary motivations are just selfishness and greed.

Oh you hypocrites.  Which if you hasn’t contemplated buying houses and land in Florida, only to recoil in horror when told that there were speed limits on boats because some union thug/bureaucrat/ elitist liberal/communist college professor/ Hollywood limousine liberal/Soros-funded SEIU socialist decreed it?

Jebus. How old is that guy doing the report for the local TV affiliate? 12?

Get used to it scratch, it only gets worse.  My boss is about 14.  My doctor celebrates his Sweet 16 next month.

Good to see the Tea Party pick such a winner of an issue.  Reminded me of some the crusades that the ACLU and PETA have been on. And hopefully it will have the same effect on their reputation.

This Federal interference in our right to use gruesome means to dismember the adorable animal that is our primary source of income is outrageous!

My grandmother staunchly supported Ronnie Reagan and voted Republican most of her life. She lived in Florida after retirement and loved the fact that the bay she lived near had manatees. She also volunteered for a sea turtle rescue group and was pro-choice. If she was still alive today, I’m sure she would be considered a librulcommiefascist by the current GOP base.
This is a woman who once lectured me about the evils of communism and who thought Bill Clinton was a degenerate pot-smoking hippie.

*sigh*

Christ, I misread an article about this kerfuffle and got totally freaked out by all the “Century 21” signs in my neighborhood.

Turns out it’s “Agenda 21” that’s behind the manatee-rights affirmative action takeover of America. Whew!

I’m as conservative as they get, but really have no problem with letting the Manatees have the bay all to themselves. They need a place where they can be totally safe from people harrassing them.

Love the sea cows.  Hate the Lipton Tea Baggers.  That is all.

Yeah, well, these Teabaggers might want to remember one thing: evolution is a bitch!
