I have to admit the Kool Aid is totally throwing me off.

This is off-topic but a nice antidote to the racist fucks depicted above. I also posted this in comments at tom Hilton’s joint as well as Betty’s (and soon Ice’s).

We have the honor of sharing our paradise with a woman named Betty Chinn. Betty is a refugee from Mao’s China and has dedicated her life to helping the less-fortunate among us.

Betty arises each morning, loads her truck with food and heads out in to the county to feed those who need a hot meal and friendly face. She’s been doing this 7 days a week for 20 years.

A few years ago she spotted a homeless family camped under one of our local bridges on Thanksgiving. After making her rounds (she hits the local soup kitchen three times a day) she went home, cooked up an entire thanskgiving meal and returned to the family. She then proceeded to share her thanksgiving meal with them right there under the bridge.

She served them dinner on her best china.

Betty was honored today on the Oprah Winfrey show after being awarded Maria Shriver’s Minerva award for her work.

I know it may not be important to y’uns, but Betty is another example of someone I wish I were more like.

A good friend and former colleague of mine wrote a moving, warm wonderful piece about Betty in 2006 (Tom has it in email, I sent it to him last week) that’s well worth a read.

Here’s to Betty and to all who make our world a better place.

She claims that because she is the daughter of German Jews Holocaust survivors, she could never ever think of even making fun of a minority. Cmon, folks we have to give San Bernadino GOP club some credit. They do let minorities be part of their GOP. so we cant accuse them and their leadership of racism.

In the meantime, if we use DF’s logic: Since being a minority makes one proof against giving offense to minorities and Obama is also a minority, we can assume he would never think of offending anyone by calling attention to his race.

This happened in my neck of the woods. The IE (Inland Empire) is full of these types. Basically, most of them live inland. They’re the same kind of cretins you see in those YouTube videos from Palin rallies in Scranton, Johnstown, and southeastern Ohio.

Cali is mostly liberal only socially, at least outside the city of LA and SF. and what I mean by that is that they dont have a problem sleeping around and having abortions, which is the bane of the GOP religious wing existence, but when it comes to fiscal and foreign policy, they are staunch conservatives, which why they are called Reagan Democrats. the fact that people like Diane are not socially conservative gets them branded as liberals

RJ—I just moved from OC where liberals have to use the secret handshake (so to speak) to find each other.  The large urban areas like LA are liberal but out in the suburbs and places like Irvine they are far right politically.

I love BBQ, fried chicken, and I don’t mind watermelon…  Does this make me black?  I’ve also snuck some RunDMC and 2 Live Crew* onto my iPod, too.  Don’t tell the council of whiteness!  I don’t want to get the boot.
