“These are evil people”

Holy fuck, did Cheney really say the Obama team cares more about terrorists’ rights than protecting the country? Yep:

In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.

And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans — and, he charged, many members of Obama’s own team — understand.

“When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said.

Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.”

I got used to Bush and Cheney questioning people’s patriotism for political gain while they were in office, but damn—this is just despicable. That evil motherfucker needs to be shipped off to The Hague.

This is my quandary with regards to religion - Cheney’s existence here on earth gives credence to the belief that there is no God, but the thought that there is a deep, dark hole in Hell for him certainly has its comforts.

Cheney and company do not have the capacity to think out complex issues.  In their world, things are either black or white, and there is no gray.  It is the reason that they are constantly seeking out a boogie man to rail against, whether it be communism, terrorism, drugs, homosexuality, etc.  They simply do not know how to exist without something to fight against.

Someone suggested in comments at my post about Obama and Petraeus that the story was not true and we’d been “had”.  I don’t think so.  Cheney is part of that whole group that needs a war to feel validated.

Yes, because Cheney and Co. did such a fine job of keeping us safe on September 11 by ignoring the numerous warnings about Al Qaeda from outgoing Clinton administration folks.

Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.”

Admit it, you’ve got your fingers crossed that Osama bin Laden will agree to call off all his minions and devote his life to charity if we send him Cheney’s head on a platter.

Or maybe that’s only me.

I’d send Cheney’s head on a platter to someone for a cheeseburger and a beer.  Rhetorically speaking, of course…

“I don’t know if the American public deserve me”

Joe the Plumber advising Pajamas Media on his own political career. Apparently America will just have to wait until his son grows up.

I’d send Cheney’s head on a platter to someone for a cheeseburger and a beer.

Provided you were absolutely certain the meat came from a bovine. “Oh garçon! There’s a stent in my burger!”

Sorry. I’ll just go sit in the corner until the Hell-bound handbasket arrives.

Naw, hunger.  Totally in bounds.

I couldn’t believe the schadenfreude I felt seeing that monster wheelchair bound.  He gets what he deserves.

Am I a bad person for hoping Cheney does not die from a massive heart attack but instead is forced to endure months and months and months of painful and horrific cancer treatments and then he dies anyway?  Also in this dream of mine he is being convicted of war crimes at the Hague at the same time.

In my fantasy scenario, Muslimofascist terrists kidnap Dick Cheney and post videos of him on YouTube demanding that the US pay a huge ransom or watch him vivisected one extremity at a time.

President Obama issues a statement saying, “The United States of America will never negotiate with terrists.”

I guess Darth didn’t get the memo that said that out-of-office VP’s get to STFU now.

Maybe he shredded it.

I like Allan’s idea bestest with sprinkles.

marindenver - I think you are referring to me.  And I stand by what I say.  Look, I have often agreed with many of your comments over the past several months, but I totally think you are in danger of falling for a BS story, because quite frankly, it makes sense to you/you’re worldview…but that doesn’t make it true.

That you draw a link between what shithead Cheney said in this article and my comment in that one, as if the two are somehow related doesn’t make much sense.

Sounds like apples and oranges to me.

Again, my whole point is you went off on a whole rant and story about Petraeus & the military having this “alleged” disagreement with Obama without proving any CREDIBLE source to back it up.

I tried fact-checking that story and only found other blogs sites parroting the same meme, with no credible news source to back it up.  Sounds like the quick start to an Urban Legend to me.

However, the Dick-head shitfuck Cheney’s unbelievably assholish statements, as described in this blog post, are well documented and being rebroadcast (in both actual audio and text transcript form) throughout multiple credible news sources.

So again, apples to oranges and unless someone can actually demonstrate that they can substantiate that “Petraeus v Obama” rumor…I’ll call all of you that fell for it out on pulling the same sort of shit that the birfers and PUMAs do - going off all half-cocked on unsubstantiated rumors, just because it seems to “validate” some personal worldview/fears you might have.

iceburg wedge - No, I would not call you a bad person for wishing karmic justice on Cheney. ;)

Pumalicious! - I think you’ve totally hit the nail on the head! Well said!

G - you may be right.  Honestly I hope you are.  We’ve got enough problems without a faction trying to prolong the Iraq war with no justification.
