Things I Know Nothing About

This morning, while watching an Ocean Spray commercial, I realized that I know next to nothing about the harvesting of cranberries.

This concludes this morning’s edition of Things I Know Nothing About.

Well, cranberries grow in bogs.  When it’s time to harvest them, they flood the bogs and gather the ripe cranberries from the surface of the water.  (They float.) Then they get checked for bounce.  The bad ones won’t bounce as high as the good ones.

You can also dry harvest, but that’s time consuming and is only used for the ones that are going to be sold fresh.

Are there skin divers involved? That would be hot.
