“This is not a hypothetical, Dr. Paul.”

Our Own Rhodes Scholar schools ticking tea bomb Doctor Rand Paul. I’m sure Our Own Monotonous Crank/Our Own Failed Comic will find something to complain about it in the next few days. [via HuffPo]

Yes, Dr. Paul is so free market that he would not only allow private companies from reinstating segregation in their businesses, but I’m also assuming he would dial it all back to where women would need their husbands’ permission to work and then pay them $.50 on the dollar.  And forget family medical leave and don’t even go there for jobs or physical access for the disabled.

I heard he wasn’t too bright and kind of a dim version of Dad. It was pretty evident with Rachel last night that he really hasn’t thought this whole thing through…

I heard he wasn’t too bright and kind of a dim version of Dad

Which makes him the perfect Teabag/Glibertarian hero.

Bringing guns to a restaurant is not the same as bringing yourself. Guns can be left at home.

Thanks for the link back to that Somerby demolishment. I used it just a couple days ago on someone who was singing his praises.

Dr. Paul is so free market that he considers indentured servitude to be no worse than an unpaid internship.

When Paul attempts to assert that forcing private businesses that choose to serve the public not to discriminate violates the business owner’s First Amendment rights, I am surprised Rachel couldn’t hear me yelling at the TeeVee,

BEHAVIOR IS NOT SPEECH!

THE BUSINESS OWNER CAN SAY HE HATES COLORED PEOPLE AND THAT’S NOT THE CRIME! THE CRIME IS WHEN HE ACTS IN A DISCRIMINATORY FASHION!

If a time machine becomes a reality during my lifetime, Ayn Rand is on the hit list.

Expect a Supreme Court ruling that guns are persons.

Scarborough said on MJ this morning that he has 24 hours to walk back those statements or he is toast.  Sure enough up he pops on Ingrahams show this morning saying “I never said that, that mean lesbian made me say stuff I didn’t mean, that mean lesbian twisted my words”  or some such thing to much coo cooing from Laura.

You jest and caper for the rubes and pretend you’re better than “them.” It’s all just tribalism, and you wonder why “they” won’t vote for “you,” but then you insinuate “they’re” “racist” just because “they” don’t like “blacks eating at lunch counters with white people.” “Liberals” are full of prehistoric tribal hatred, especially the ones who get on TV or have popular websites more popular than Bob Somerby’s.

@Thers—Whew. Until I got to the end of your comment, I was afraid Bob Somerby had two friends.

Hysterical - Rand tries to backpedal while the NRSC reminds us that Robert Byrd tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

As a side note, I would point out the irony – which seems to have been lost in some of the news coverage—that the same party seeking to manufacture this issue today, is in fact the same political party which led the filibuster against the Civil Rights Act in 1964. In fact, the sitting President pro tempore of the Senate, elected to this leadership position by his current fellow Senate Democrats, was one of the leaders of this filibuster.

“I realize it must be difficult to realize that your father’s philosophy has just toasted you on live television, but thanks for this civil discussion, which you won’t be replaying in your head as you try to get to sleep tonight and every night, I’m sure.”

Pause. Think of something!

Pause. Think of something!

Pause. Think of something!

“.......Thank you, Rachel.”

Even Tucker Carlson was never this dumb.

... the same party seeking to manufacture this issue today, is in fact the same political party which led the filibuster against the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

Yes, yes! We know who the real racists are! I mean, which party put a black man in the White House?

I wonder if they’ll ever figure out that “Oh sure, Republican may be racists now, but Democrats were racists 50 years ago,” is not a winning statergery.

I hope not. I have been laughing all day and based on some emails, I’m not the only the only one who is ROFLOL.

This Mini-Paul is none too bright.

Can we also point out that the guy who put the hurt on the rebs crying for “secession” 150 years ago was a Republican? So why do Rick Perry and Ron Paul want to make St. Abe cry by bringing up secession now?

Because the modern Republican Party is embarassed by the fact that it started out as the place for Northeastern Progressives to hang, fought against the Southern Cause, and elected one of the most universally beloved Presidents ever.
