Three Studies in Teabaggery

I know we’re not supposed to be paying attention to the teabaggers/Town Howlers anymore, but I’ve always felt that it’s important to study wingnuts to fully understand what makes them tick. Here are three videos shot outside of town halls that are worth a peek.

This first one was taken outside of a Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO) town hall meeting on 8/12. The video was taken by a “patriot” who wrote on the video’s YouTube page that the “liberals were very agressive [sic] at this event.” Translation: we were outnumbered. He also added video annotations (pop-ups) that explain, from his perspective, what happened. You can be the judge of who seems more “aggressive.”  It’s fairly obvious that the woman in the pale green shirt screeeaaaamming “America is not a welfare state!” who later tells a “hippy” to “get a job!” is the “aggressive” one.  Compare her demeanor to the smiling woman leading people in the “facts not fear” chant. Also, note what happens when the black woman in the white shirt (referred to as “it”—not “she”—in an earlier video annotation ... charming) approaches the screecher to ask her to calm down. The guy in the purple shirt runs in and barks, “Don’t touch her.”  Look at his right hand. It’s balled up in a fist, like he was ready to hit her. Very, very disturbing.

This one’s from a town hall in Maryland. Once again, compare and contrast. I love how when the African American gentleman asks the teabagger what county he lives in (obviously, not the one this town hall is held in), the interloper’s true, ahem, colors come out: “Are you with ACORN?” The end is heartbreaking.  Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin should both be very proud of themselves.

This final one from Dem Rep. Sam Farr’s town hall on 8/12 is kinda long but it’s just jam-packed with seemingly reasonable people (except for the little drummer girl and the woman at the end who, yeah, well, NO COMMENT) spouting an endless stream of health care reform myths.

The sad thing is, the woman in the second video is going to be “thrown away” under our current system that the “conservatives” are fighting so hard to retain.

Given the length of time she has had hepatitis C, you would think that she would have a more clear picture of where the problems lie.

It’s a no win situation.  If you attempt to act rational and provide facts, they will scream you down and attempt to overpower your message.  If you come with force and emotion, they will label you crazy.  The idea of a welfare state is the story to keep the rich from having to share any of their ill gotten gains….

I don’t want the government going in my bank account and taking money out when they feel like it . . .

WTF?  I wasn’t aware that was a facet of health care reform (maybe that’s how we pay for the death panels?) but realistically, lady, the gummint can go into your bank account and take money out already.  Don’t pay your income taxes for a couple of years and see what happens.  I’ve got a few clients who can tell you about that.

WTF?  I wasn’t aware that was a facet of health care reform (maybe that’s how we pay for the death panels?)

I’ve heard a few of them uttering that fear.  I have no idea where that one came from. Maybe it bubbled up from discussions about mandates?

There’s something in the bill about online payments.

ACORN stealing your money and all that rot, you betcha!  Also.

More douchebaggage from Rep. Broun (R-Psycho):

“When mama falls and breaks her hip, she’ll just lie in her bed in pain until she dies with pneumonia because her needed surgery is not cost efficient.”

Lying piece of shit. I wonder how much money the insurance industry stuffed in his pockets.

From the letter Broun sent to constituents:

Obama has created a new $2 billion federal bureaucracy—a national health care rationing board—that will decide if the medical care you need is “cost efficient.”

And if these federal bureaucrats decide that your treatment is not “Government Approved,” then your doctor will be ordered to deny you treatment… or risk facing stiff penalties!

Lying piece of shit is right.

Rep. Broun how about, in honor of the American soldier, you quit making things up!?!

Betty, here’s a list of how much everybody recieved 2005-2008.

Broun received $23,500. that seems like not very much—it’s toward the bottom of the scale, until you consider the size of his district.

Leading the list? The PUMA’s favorite, John McCain, by far:

McCain, John Total $ 2,287,345 S
Dodd, Chris Total $ 1,102,056 S
Baucus, Max Total $ 449,125 S
McConnell, Mitch Total $ 448,633 S
Lieberman, Joe Total $ 403,644 S
Nelson, Ben Total $ 363,636 S
Cornyn, John Total $ 324,194 S

Little Crumb Leiberman is up way there, too. What a couple of——horse’s necks.

Not to mention Max Baucus.  Chair of the Senate Finance Committee who is currently hashing out the supposedly definitive bi-partisan health care bill.  Bought and paid for, all of them.

(Re: Last Lady) You don’t have to watch while me and YAFB begin to ROTFLMAO while we gaze at the wonders of the FIRST CLASS American dental care that you are all so fond of making fun of US about.  You’re welcome.
