That’s odd, I can’t seem to find this album in the iTunes store.

Man, I was just screwing with you and this is what you do in retaliation?  Cruel.  Very, very cruel.

I feel bad for thinking this is pretty awful, though, because it sounds like the dude is actually deaf and he seems very…earnest.  Plus, my most recent music purchases include Explosions in the Sky, Fair to Midland, and Porcupine Tree.  The latter two are at least prog-metal, so not quite Pitchfork, but definitely pretentious (what prog isn’t), but the first is a post-rock instrumental band that sounds a bit like Mogwai, so that probably strays into douche-hood.

Heh.  I was joking, too.  It’s not the first Pitchfork jab directed at me.

I like Pitchfork, although I find their reviews to be way too long and ponderous. It’s a great resource, though, and I still visit it more than just about any other site, music or otherwise.

For the record, I was actually a pretentious indie-music-loving music snob long before some of the Pitchfork writers may have even been born, dating back to my college radio music director/fanzine editor days in the mid/late 80’s.

I actually like a lot of the stuff you’ve posted up here.  But you mocked Rush and that cannot stand.  Sure, they are a soft target and their basement-dwelling objectivist fan base is both frightening and repellent at times, but… what was I saying?

Dude, I’m going to see the Psychedelic Furs tomorrow night, so I deserve whatever comes my way.

BTW, don’t think Andrew Lee is deaf. Just insane.

So, that’s just a horrible falsetto?  Holy crap.  I have to say, though, that I am grateful to the deity of your choice that YouTube, etc, did not exist during my formative years. I’m sure videotapes exist of my high school stand-up comedy talent show routines, but millions of people aren’t looking at them and mocking my wicked mullet.

I think he’s one of the first of the YouTube generation.  Saw some videos of him going back to when he was really young. I’m guessing the falsetto is for “comedic” purposes.  Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s the case with Antony.

BTW, here’s a way-too-long bio about Lee. I think it was written by the same person who writes Palin’s Facebook notes.

That bio is a creative writing assignment gone horribly, horribly wrong.  I sympathize with the kid, because I did some stupid crap as a teen that I’m sure I thought was all edgy and experimental, but posting it all over the interwebs pushes it into delusional territory.  I guess I’m still getting used to how exhibitionist our culture is getting.  Damn kids and their crazy BookFace and such.
