Today in Rock-Ribbed Eisenhower Republicanism

Via valued commenter Askew, that hopey-changey thing is workin’ out pretty good today:

1. Colorado, Washington get OK from feds on marijuana

2. Federal Tax System Will Recognize Married Gay Couples Even If Their States Do Not

3. HHS Extends Medicare Benefits To Married Gay Couples

Plus the executive order on guns. Not a bad day’s work. Thanks, Obama!

This is a betrayal because he should have done it all sooner.

/reedy nasal whine

President Obama has managed to get some pretty terrific things accomplished. I often wonder what truly amazing things he might have accomplished had he been supported by Republicans and the members of his own party who dropped the ball.

But I don’t like to think about it, because it makes me all stabby.

Colorado citizen here.  Glad to see the feds have backed down; not that I will be buying since other CO laws guarantee I’ll lose my professional license if ever caught with weed.

But this does add some certainty to the situation, and that helps a lot.  Civilization didn’t end when medical mj was approved here, and we’ve been treated to some entertaining pot shop names in the process.  The tax rate of 30%, with all funds directed to fund education, is a nice bonus as well.
