“Unprofessional in the extreme”

Brian Williams read this passage on MSNBC following Sarah Palin’s “Petty Woman” speech and normally I don’t pay much attention to Joe Klein because his beard creeps me out, but this was spot on:

There is a tendency in the media to kick ourselves, cringe and withdraw, when we are criticized. But I hope my colleagues stand strong in this case: it is important for the public to know that Palin raised taxes as governor, supported the Bridge to Nowhere before she opposed it, pursued pork-barrel projects as mayor, tried to ban books at the local library and thinks the war in Iraq is “a task from God.” The attempts by the McCain campaign to bully us into not reporting such things are not only stupidly aggressive, but unprofessional in the extreme.

After tonight’s towel-snapping speech Palin is fair game going forward and I think we can also throw away the “Biden has to be nice to her during the debate” meme.  Pat Buchanan, after gushing over her on MSNBC, said they have to keep her away from the press (read: avoid tough questions) and just let her give speeches and raise money. So I guess she’s all prattle, no battle. Let’s see how she handles herself down in the trenches. As I said before, she’s not in Alaska anymore.

I just donated $100 to the Obama campaign in honor of the PTA, hockey moms, special needs families, fisherpeople, knocked up Alaskan teens that didn’t listen to their mother’s lame “abstinence not sex education” idea and gum-smacking hotty teenage boys everywhere.
Oh- and Piper Palin for VP!

I think we can also throw away the “Biden has to be nice to her during the debate” meme.

I was thinking the same thing tonight walking home from the restaurant.  I think she is going to have a hard time not looking like a bitch now (yes I know that is sexist).  A dumb bitch actually.

“Pat Buchanan, after gushing over her on MSNBC, said they have to keep her away from the press (read: avoid tough questions) and just let her give speeches…”

By now we should all realise that “speeches are just words” when they’re delivered by a democrat only.
I swear if i have to hear this woman name every single family member again i’ll hockey stick my throat.

I’ll see your sexism and raise you:

The Broad to Nowhere

Kevin, I’ll raise you:

Have you heard about the HuffPo story about Palin’s husband’s business partner laying his version of the Alaskan Pipeline in her front yard? It’s in the National Enquirer and the McCain campaign is threatening a lawsuit. :)

I’ll see that raise and bump her up to:

Lipstick on a Fish.

So it looks like they’re going to run a Pat Buchanan-style culture wars campaign. Palin proved herself capable of lobbing big chunks of red meat at a partisan crowd, sending a thrill up the aforementioned Buchanan’s leg.

On one hand, this strategy surprises me—they must know solidifying the wingnut base won’t be enough. But on the other hand, what else have they got aside from lies and brimstone?

I hope the Obama camp comes out guns a’blazing: Bridge to Nowhere, Abuse of Power and George W. Bush. They need to relentlessly reveal the “reformer” claim to be the sham it is and point out that the idea of Bush’s lapdog taking on “Washington” is 100% bullshit.

I think we know what all the working the refs stuff was about yesterday.  It was solely designed to keep reviewers from using words like angry in their analysis.  They want forceful, and they’ll force you to say it.

She doesn’t just give me queer pains with her over-the-top poofter pompadour Darryl and Darryl pathology—but she’s a wise guy.

-Todd the “Quite-A-Package” Boytoy

“I used to be a poor nobody, just like you.  But now that I’ve made it - fuck you, you’re a poor nobody!”

And the lies, dear God, the lies!  Was there anybody on stage last night who didn’t just flat out lie?

So it looks like they’re going to run a Pat Buchanan-style culture wars campaign.

Amen, and I hope they get even more snarky tonight.  John McCreepy can’t hide behind faded beauty queen looks and he will end up looking like the bitter angry man that he is.  Where is that respectful campaign now POW boy?

Obama is throwing himself to the wolves - will be on O’Reilly tonight.  Somehow I think he can hold his own there.  It probably won’t be opposite McC’s speech but will definitely pull a fair amount of attention away from the convention.  Despite my best intentions I did watch the Palin speech last night.  It sounded cobbled together to me (as indeed it was).  You could tell when she was just reading the stuff that had originally been written for Pawlenty or Ridge.  Hubbie and daughter had to pull me back from the screen when she pulled out that bullshit lie about the Bridge to Nowhere again.  But I’m actually glad they let her say it because it is so easy to prove it’s a lie.
