Very Important Questions!

I just watched this Hannity clip (“TELEPROMPTER! TELEPROMPTER! TELEPROMPTER!”) featuring a Dana “Pocket-Size” Perino and fetid bag of British wind I’ve never heard of and I have VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS.  Why is it that when Democrats poke fun of Republicans, it’s labeled as inhumane and/or immature cruelty that will surely backfire and will always make the Republican “victim” stronger, but when Republicans take jabs at Democrats, it’s above reproach and a winning strategy? And why do so many progressives buy into that bullshit?

RELATED: AP’s Nancy Benac, like countless drool-bucket-wearing wingnut simpletons in the blogosphere and rightwing media, can’t discern the difference between reading speeches from a teleprompter (zing!) and using palm notes during an interview with pre-screened questions.  Jesus fuck, our media is stupid.

UPDATE: I’m (obviously) in full agreement with Cole and Cesca.

Jim Quinn, my local Drive-Time Radio Nazi, is pushing the lame frame that Sarah is a “private citizen and a mother,” which somehow makes it “unsportsmanlike” to call her out for her racist, treasonous dumbshittery.

Cindy Sheehan, of course, remains a subversive, unpatriotic whore who should go to prison for stalking President Bush.

Wingnuts have thin skins, especially when their Great White Hope is a slackjawed ninny who needs flash cards to know which hole the food goes in and which one it comes out.

Conflating the use of a teleprompter (or written notes on a podium in Palin’s case this time) with scribbled answer cues for a few tame pre-screened questions—it’s the old “if you repeat a lie often enough” schtick, with a fistful of distraction thrown in.

They whine when it’s done to them and their own because they’re bullies, and it fills airtime. On the bright side, who knows what mischief they’d get up to with the time they waste with this wound-licking?

And why do so many progressives buy into that bullshit?

I think some of them have an even lower—and quite patronizing—view of those who watch this blah than I do, and assume anyone without massive paper qualifications is thick, swallows what Fox spews out wholesale, has to be pandered to and never questioned in adult terms, and can’t spot a grifter a mile away.

It was in full cry during the election—“You’ve been mean to Sarah [by speaking truth to power as with any politician up for scrutiny] so now you’re going to LOOOOSE!!!”

Cesca said:

When we stop mocking her, when the press and the netroots and the Democrats begin to say, “Enough with the Palin is stupid remarks,” that’s when she begins to be taken seriously. That must not happen.

Amen and amen. They’ll take my mockery away when they pry it out of my cold, dead hands!

I subscribe to the school of thought that holds mockery is an ultra-potent weapon that is vastly under-utilized by liberals (present company excepted, natch).

Just how do the “leave Sarah aloooooonnnne!” concern trolls imagine the GOP managed to make the very word “liberal” a pejorative? Incessant mockery, that’s how: They relentlessly trashed us as squishy, touchy-feely, PC weaklings.

And meanwhile, THEY are the bed-wetting nervous nellies who raced to the bunker every time BushCo pushed the Pavlovian terra-alert level to orange. THEY are the fraidy cats who get the vapors and call for internment camps when a moron sets his undies on fire over Detroit. THEY are the sniveling sissies who are afraid our justice system is inadequate to the task of dealing with the likes of the undie bomber.

Personally, I don’t plan to rest until the very word “conservative” is freighted with connotations of spinelessness, vapidity and religious nutbaggery. And Sister Sarah is indispensable to that cause.

In the Teabagger’s teenage minds, pointing out their inconsistencies is validation of what they’re doing. Attacking Sara America is another example of how they’re supposedly “riling up Washington!!!”

Fuck ‘em. If Caribou Barbie seriously has to write down the GOP mantra “cut taxes” on her hand, that needs to be mocked endlessly.

Can somebody explain to me why Obama gave Perino a government job, even if it is a sinecure (and, I believe, unpaid)?

Why not just give jobs to Palin, Beck,  Joseph Farah, and Orly Taitz and get it over with?

Not that this excuses what Perino says about Obama every chance she gets.  You’d think she’d have some fucking manners.

When we stop mocking her, when the press and the netroots and the Democrats begin to say, “Enough with the Palin is stupid remarks,” that’s when she begins to be taken seriously.

That’s also when the press finds some other shiny object. At that point the members of the GOP with two brain cells would breathe a sigh of relief and claim the LIEberul media won’t give St. Palin air time. They’d reap all the benefits of an irate teabagging population without the embarrassment (and expense) of The SnowGrifter.

This also must not happen.

Can somebody explain to me why Obama gave Perino a government job, even if it is a sinecure (and, I believe, unpaid)?

You got me with that one. I guess it’s part of the 11th dimensional chess strategy that even has a naive Obot like me eager to flip the fucking board over.

Because conservatives can be wrapped up in a 45-second nutshell, once again thanks to Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

A few on the left have started to figure it out; notably, Markos Moulistas and Alan Grayson.

The current GOP/conservative movement consists largely of bedwetting, overfed chickenhawks.  They love to talk tough and can’t back it up to save their lives.  Hit them and they go crying home to their mother.

When progressives learn to knuckle up and start publicly challenging them on their stupidity and ignorance, the tone of politics in this country will change forever.

To add to my rantette above, don’t forget that Palin spent her time as VP candidate lying blatantly about a whole load of things, including her own record, snarling joyously, and whipping up crowds to such a quasi-murderous frenzy toward Obama that even McCain was driven to try to call for calm.

All the while, any and every criticism was greeted with bogus cries of “Misogyny!”

Don’t get me wrong, there were definitely times when some people overstepped the mark in their focus and criticisms, both of Hillary Clinton and Palin—this blog stands up pretty well to scrutiny on that measure—but the “misogyny” brand was cheapened when it was trotted out by opportunists and GOP hacks to cover even the simplest exposure of idiocy (*cough* “All of them”) that would not pass without comment if she were male.

So now the cry seems to be “Idiotyny!”

With that record, sympathy if Palin wilts under the collective gaze when called out and wants to portray herself as a victim?—Sorry, I’m clean out.

...the “misogyny” brand was cheapened when it was trotted out by opportunists and GOP hacks to cover even the simplest exposure of idiocy (*cough* “All of them”) that would not pass without comment if she were male.

Well said. That’s precisely why the histrionics of The New Agenda, et al, drive me nuts. Misogyny is a serious problem, and they’re making matters worse.

I’d call Siskind the Al Sharpton of feminism, but unlike Siskind, Sharpton has some actual accomplishments under his belt in is right more often than he’s wrong. The same cannot be said of Siskind.

Siskind’s record of being right is worse than a broken clock.  And great rant back there at 9:29!

Can somebody explain to me why Obama gave Perino a government job, even if it is a sinecure (and, I believe, unpaid)?

Not sure why Perino specifically (except that she was a WH Press Sec and maybe she applied for the position). If i understand it correctly Board of Gov appointments are given to 4 Dems and 4 Reps with the 9th slot going to the Sec of State (Hillary).

Not sure why Perino specifically…

Maybe because she’s so stupid she couldn’t pour water out of a boot even if the directions were on the heel, and Obama thought appointing the intellectual equivalent of an air fern on the GOP side would handicap that cabal if they tried to pull off more complex shenanigans.*

*Totally talkin’ out my arse here—I don’t know doodlysquat about the Board of Guvnah’s responsibilities. Just reflexively fluffing the Kenyan!

Maybe because she’s so stupid she couldn’t pour water out of a boot…

I had the same thought (shes too dumb to be dangerous). But I dunno how the selections are made, if there are nominations, or if the Sec of State has some say in who is selected or not (since the Board of Govs oversees things like Voice of America, Radio Marti, etc…).
