Wanted: Coon Hunter

Oops, sorry, didn’t mean to get the folks at No Quarter and HillaryIs44 all excited by the title of this post, but was wondering if we had any animal tracking or raccoon experts out there. We found what appear to be muddy animal paw prints in our garden this morning and also some markings in the silt at the bottom of a large bucket that had collected rainwater. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a raccoon because my wife Chris and I once saw one up a tree in Queens and there have been plenty of sightings in this Brooklyn neighborhood. What do you guys think?

LOL about No 1/4. Looks like coon tracks to me. They regularly raid my garbage can around here and leave similar tracks. One once paid a visit in person, popping up out of a bin while I was depositing a bag of trash. This caused me to amaze Mr. Cracker by jumping entirely over the hood of my car without touching it. I swear. Sure, it’s only a Beetle, but still.

Heh. Yeah the one we saw in Queens was on the sidewalk first.  It was night, but I said to Chris, “That looks too big to be a cat.”  As we got closer, it scampered up a tree by the side of the street and we hung out for a bit staring up at it.  Then I climbed up the tree and killed it with my bare hands.

Okay, that last part didn’t happen.  I think we just went home and watched Survivor.

Kevin, those are baby sasquatch tracks…fucking watch out dude.
