What Steve M. said

Dead on:

I’m no McCain fan, but I don’t think it’s horrible and deceitful of [his staff] to try to control the [camera] angles, especially given the damage cancer has done to one side of McCain’s face.

But imagine how many columns Maureen Dowd would squeeze out of this incident if this were Barack Obama’s staff demanding control. Imagine how Mike Barnicle would snicker about it. You’d never hear the end of it.

Read it all and watch video here.

McCain doesn’t have a good side-to me he looks like a piece of cheese that has sat too long on the plate. But if his people want to control which side is photographed…so be it.

You’re right Delfina,

If you choose the right side facing him there’s that meatloaf under his cheek.  If you go to the other side he looks wholely out of symetry because of shoulder injuries, not to mention the teeth.  Now I see why he doesn’t smile.

I don’t think this is a big issue.  What I think is the issue is the McCain camp’s tone deafness in respect with the LOCAL MEDIA.  They’re not having the strong-arm tactics.  And McLame’s camp really isn’t giving them any respect.

It definitely can be tough being a woman in a man’s business, knowing when to be tough and when to use honey.  They could have handled that situation a LOT better than they did.  McCain is the only one that PRETENDS to treat them nice.  The pile of discarded reporters is growing…be it sent to the back of the bus/plane or banned from the straight talk express, the clear panderers (bbq boys) will be clear in the next couple of weeks.  McCain wants to shrink the crowds…hence his infatuation with town hall style.  This way he gets to avoid having his crowds dwarfed by Obama, and he can put off the “free speech zones” tactics that he will be forced to use eventually.

They’re also going to find that once they get on the real campaign trail, they won’t have time to vet all of the questions before hand…and that local news isn’t going to be as cooperative as the BBQ Boys.  And they’re NOT going to stick to the script.  So I certainly expect to see more comedy gold like the birth control question video.  The pregnant pauses while he contemplates in his mind which exit to kick the reporter off the bus…

The pregnant pauses

Unmarried of course, and if the crackpot Christianists get their way, there will be a hell of lot more pregnant pauses and women because we all know that birth control is really nothing more than abortion.
