Will Mittens Pave the Path to a Perry Comeback?

image

Is the Romney camp implying that Rick Perry is a brainless, slack-jawed yokel who would be utterly crushed in a head-to-head match-up with the Kenyan Usurper in this new video? Sin duda, as Romney’s fired leaf-blower might say.

And it’s true—Perry apparently is dumber than a post, unable to outwit a toadstool, incapable of pouring water out of a cowboy boot if the directions were on the heel, etc. But I think old Willard got just a leeetle too excited when it dawned on him just what a babbling halfwit Perry is, and old Willard forgot something kinda important about the constituency he’s attempting to woo: The GOP base doesn’t consider stupid a serious drawback in a candidate.

They went wild over booger-eating moron Sarah Palin. They worship Ronald “Amiable Dunce” Reagan. George “C+ Augustus” Bush anyone? Moreover, the base tends to get riled when some snooty-pants elitist looks down his patrician nose at the abstract-thought impaired. I’m just saying Mittens better watch his ass, if he knows what’s good for him.

I dunno, I don’t think Mitt was advised well on this.  First of all the video comes off as thrown together and cheaply made.  And second, as you point out, the Republican base considers stupid to be a feature not a bug.  No latte sippin’ elitists for the TeaPees, no sir!

TEA PARY!  DO YOU SPEAK IT, MOTHERFUCKER?!?

This ain’t 2010, though, Ricky.

OT.  You guys are no doubt familiar with The Fogbow, our dear leader Foggy has been struck with a seriously shitty illness that could possibly kill him.  He has no health insurance.  He needs serious amounts of hemoglobin (or whatever the shit that stuff is) which costs a great deal of money.  We are currently having a fundraiser over at The Fogbow to help him out with his medical bills.  Anything you can give would be appreciated.  This is an emergency people.  Please whatever you can give would be appreciated.  Please go to The Fogbow and hit the donate button.

Normally all of the contributions go to purchasing transcripts of the birfer motions and hearings (which can get quite expensive) but right now we are trying to save a human being, who we all love.  Thanks.

If Romney was a bit more likeable he might be able to pull this off.  As it is he looks like and acts like a know-it-all asshole.  This ad ain’t likely to endear him to those “regular” Americans.

In 2000 I was living in the godless hinterlands of yurp, where not even the black cabs go (south of the river), but I seem to recall hearing that Gore was lambasted for being mean to the dumb Texan.

Will Mitt be held to the same standard?

Just think - 12 more debates for these clowns to tear each other up, to the delight and horror of sentient beings everywhere.

I really think the video is a wash. I think MItt pulled it because it was too early to bother. It was a low cost/youtube thing and I think he pulled it because it made Barack Obama look too powerful, not Perry look too weak.

Mitty wants to play it both ways. He wants voters to vote for him, but he doesn’t want to puff himself off vis a vis Barack Obama because he wants to go into any debates with BO as a novice punching upwards, a david fighting goliath. This youtube promises more than he, Mitt, can deliver when and if he goes up against BO.

TPM is reporting that CNN made them take the video down.  They didn’t object to the use of the debate footage but the fact that some of their talent was featured.  And now Perry’s put out his own attack video against Mitt highlighting his flip-flops.
