Romney himself has said at this point that he expected that he wouldn’t get a warm reception from the NAACP audience.  It’s just really clear to me that he doesn’t entirely understand why he didn’t exactly “make friends and influence people” there. He also expects to get African-American votes.  If Pat Buchanan got votes from Jewish seniors in Florida, I guess anything is possible.

Romney is turning out to be not only faker than we realize, but possibly faker than we can realize. The only thing genuine is the awfulness.

mittbot got exactly what he wanted from the NAACP speech.

He hoped to provoke the audience. Check.

He hoped to affirm his victim status. Check.

I don’t know about “victim status.”  I’m persuaded that he now has footage of “those people” booing him, which he can display to his usual constituency to remind them, with the subtlety of a battering ram, just whose side he’s really on.
