RELATED: I’m going to put together a post showcasing the 15 (or so) Most EPIC PUMA FAILS of 2008.  If you have any suggestions, please list them in the comments. I’ve complied a quick list off of the top of my head that you can read below the fold…

  • Flowbee’s “The Whitey Tape”
  • The RBC “Count Every Vote” Rally (including Harriet Christian’s meltdown?)
  • The PUMA Conference
  • PUMAs go to Denver (pffffft)
  • The Phil Berg COLB nonsense
  • Larry Sinclair
  • Cristi Adkins vs. Chris Matthews
  • Darragh Murphy/Will Bower vs. David Schuster
  • Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild calls Obama an elitist on CNN
  • PUMAs claim they paid down Hillary’s debt
  • The Daily Kos Strike
  • The Audacity of Democracy documentary (PUMAs turn on the director)
  • Darragh Murphy’s “New Democratic Party” (and promised web site)
  • Flowbee’s “I Own My Vote” initiative

I know there are a lot more, but it’ll probably be more fun to let you guys have at it in the comments. Please provide URLs where warranted.

UPDATE: More FAIL from KPFT in Houston...

WTF Was That?

Last night (Nov. 13, 2008), KPFT aired a program about which General Manager Duane Bradley and I have received a slew of email and calls. As Program Director, I wanted to offer an apology to those who may have been offended by perceptions of slights to listeners who called in, and provide a brief explanation to listeners about Thursday night’s special.

During the timeslot normally occupied by The Other Side, a host who identified herself as Jennifer (one listener pointed me to this online thread for more information — the host is reportedly “jenniforhillary” and “murphy” was the guest) did a program on the organization PUMA (People United Means Action) with its founder, Dara [sic] Murphy. PUMA is the organization formerly known by Party Unity My Ass, which refused to support Barack Obama in the presidential election over issues related to Hillary Clinton.

The show opened with its host stating she was a former Democrat who voted straight-ticket Republican this year. The show itself continued with a brief interview and a call-in segment that was at some points civil, but was frankly mostly ugly, with frequent interruptions and shouting. Once the show was done, the general manager and I received a flood of calls and email, all of it negative, about the tone of the program, the treatment of callers and actions of the host and guest.

Read it all, including the part where he writes that some people wondered if it was satire.

Roar.

so…broke, or unwilling to disclose the source of her funds?

Let’s not forget the most epicky PUMA FAIL of all:

POPULAR VOTE TOTALS:

Obama: 66,624,424

McCain: 58,182,349

ROAR!

BTW, thanks to a reader I found out that jenniforhillary (yes, that jenniforhillary) hosted a show on Houston public radio last night (with guest ... wait for it ... Darragh Murphy) and it didn’t go over so well.  The program director said they got an enormous amount of email complaining about it.  You can check it out here (“The Other Side”—Thursday, November 13, 2008 9:00 pm).  One of the best parts is listening to the two guys who come on following them (after an hour of PUMA lunacy).  They couldn’t stop laughing.

It may not make the top 15, but I think this says something.  Her descent from “shrill moron” to “shrill moron with her own unvisited site” is emblematic of the PUMA movement.

Flowbee‘s “I Own My Vote” initiative somehow escaped my attention when he launched it.  However, it was worth the wait.

Or will be, I trust.

What, the 9/11 Troofers were booked or something?

Not exactly “epic” fails, but:
Back in October, I copy and saved a few idiotic puma election predictions.  I originally planned to post them on the Confluence and shove it in their faces when Obama won.  I figure they’re not worth it at this point, but I thought the rumproasters would appreciate these comments:

McCain will win.
The Ayers ads are aimed at Ohio, PA, VA, NC, FL.
I bet Sarah goes back into MI and pulls it off.

I love this post RD. It’s time to rise up and fight back against the Obamaganda assault the MSM minions have waged on average Americans. They can write us out of the “news” but they can’t take our votes away. On election day we will finally get to tell our own story.

TheRealKim,
Seeing polls that show NC close are what makes all the polls really suspicious. There is no way Obama will win NC. It just isn’t going to happen. The only support Obama will have is in the cities and even that is soft.

garychapelhill, on October 22nd, 2008 at 11:18 am Said:
On the polls. the survey usa poll in NC has the race tied. lets compare how they’re breaking down the demos to 2004 exit polls:
SUSA has 18-34 y/o making up 30% of electorate and they go Obama +11

garychapelhill, on October 23rd, 2008 at 12:22 pm Said:
angie I just heard his radio ad. it reminded me that it wasn’t too long ago that Richard Petty ran for governor here. Obama will lose NC for sure.

Jason, they never would have let your comment through anyway. Yeah, I went back and looked at some PUMA comments post-Palin and they were all pretty sure she was the nail in Obama’s coffin.

Oops.

What, the 9/11 Troofers were booked or something?

I’m sure they guaranteed the program director they’d garner millions of sympathetic listeners. Jenniforhillary seems to think the show was a huge success and, well, then there’s this:

jenniforhillary 11.14.08 at 12:14 am

Murphy–we could choose a topic each week and hit it hard….I will go to him Monday with the idea and MONEY (i have my backers)…

Who knew you could buy your way onto the air in public radio?

Who knew you could buy your way onto the air in public radio?

Shhh—no one tell Mushy! :-) I couldn’t bear to listen to the whole thing, but the first 10 minutes or so seemed like the usual PUMA whine-fest.

Did they following act ever address it? I skipped forward and listened to their snickering, which cracked me up, but then they moved on to Alaska.

My post over there, asking Daragh where the FEC report was, was predictably deleted

letters…we get letters:

“Yes, I have filed the FEC form, as is required. I’m sure it will be
made public by the FEC as soon as it is processed.

Thank you for your inquiry,

Darragh Murphy. ”

I couldn’t bear to listen to the whole thing, but the first 10 minutes or so seemed like the usual PUMA whine-fest.

Yeah, I couldn’t get through the whole thing, but some of the calls were funny.  They totally can’t handle being out of the bubble and they flipped out when people challenged them.  Lots of yelling, over-talking, etc.

I think simply listing the people involved underscores the EPIC FAIL; no further explanation is required.

Riverchucky
Daragh
Will Bower
Agent Flowbee
Lady Lynn de Craphound

says it all, doesn’t it?

oh, and Harriet Christian, who was so effective in delivering PA to McCain.

Does the API Michele-gets-in-your-face “interview” tape count? They were sure pushing it over at NoIQ.

I found it amusing when Riverdaughter actually posted a somewhat conciliatory “this is a historic day” message about Obama after the election and her own bloggers turned on her.

I had a few posts deleted there after I stated, as a voter for Hillary myself in the Cali primary, I was going to follow her advice, and actively campaign and vote for Obama. I basically said, “it’s what Hillary asked us to do, so what’s the problem?” and I got all that “I-own-my-vote!” nonsense in reply. And they’d leave the replies in place even after they deleted my original comment. I hate that.

Does the “Writers’ Strike” at Daily Kos count?

And they’d leave the replies in place even after they deleted my original comment. I hate that.

Well, look on the bright side Joe.  I saw that the new Confluence blogger Shtuey goes into “Obot” comments and just edit their text.

And then they all laugh.

Does the “Writers’ Strike” at Daily Kos count?

Yeah, I have it on the list.  It pretty much started the whole mess and didn’t seem to hurt Kos at all.  The only thing it hurt was Jerome Armstrong’s reputation when MyDD became a cesspool after the defection.  Not that he appeared to mind.

First of all, thanks for the blogroll add, at least a couple extra people visited my site yesterday because of it.

How bout The inevitable McCain/Palin Landslide: McCain-Palin 309 Obama-Biden 229 predicted by Will Bower on his site?

His latest is the list of the eight puma states that prevented Obama from having a Reaganesque win?!
wtf…

Lordy, that KPFT apology is funny.  I haven’t listened to the radio show but anyone who has read any of JenniforHillary’s spittle flecked posts could assume that she would be screaming at her callers too.

Murphy’s take on their performance:

dwp, exacto-MUNDO! for all the obots who called in that we were able to smack down I think we appealed to the normal listeners.

GO JENNI!

doesnt she have the sweetest voice?

but she has the hand of a NATURAL in terms of hanging up on bots - NOT an easy thing to do, and I speak from experience.

iron fist in a velvet glove Jenni.

For fails I could nominate any “prowl” you randomly click on.  Right now they’re e-mailing all the Supreme Court justices to demand they insist Obama pull out his REAL birth certificate.

Oh, and I loved Riverchucky’s insistence that Hillary was wearing the orange pantsuit at the convention just for her benefit and secretly signalled her with the reference to Sisters of the Traveling Pantsuits.  Ah, great memories all.

Wow, I’d forgotten about that one. That was classic.

An unhappy Texasdarlin contributor accidentally put another nail in the Colb coffin when she found Obama’s birth announcement in the 1961 Honolulu Advertiser. This is now on FactCheck.org, along with the photos of Obama’s Birth Certificate, raised stamp and all. The birth announcements weren’t paid for by parents; in 1961 they went directly from the hospitals to the paper. This caused Puma neurons to short out for a few minutes: massive denunciations of FactCheck, and then really imaginative straw-grasping. This is from Texasdarlin:

“Get your researchers checking shipping records. There is a good chance Obama’s mother went to the mainland by sea and given that Ann Dunham was know to be in WA when Obama only a couple of weeks old. Either she left immediately after Obama was born, which I think unlikely, or he was born onboard ship prematurely. Which would mean he was born outside US territorial waters and not automatically a US citizen. “

Then radio silence on the subject ensued, and has been maintained ever since.

A PUMA suggested on PUMAPAC that they get together a compendium of their best comments. I think we should compile our favorites. How much overlap do you suppose there might be? I’ve started my own collection, half in the belief that they might find them embarrassing enough (stoopit, racist, mysogynist, Secret-Service actionable) to scrub. But the other half of me knows they’re so addled they’d never take them down.

Probably not “epic fail” but I always found the “Rise, Hillary, Rise” stuff to be creepy and a bit, yeah, cultish.

Other highpoints: alegre’s “and still she shines, just like polished gold.” post

And a NoQ post after Obama said that Hillary would be a big asset in November, which stated, “A big asset? Only an unscrupulous sexist ass would say such a thing, and we now know beyond all doubt that Barack Obama sets the gold standard in sexism.”

I think my favorite part is the “beyond all doubt” but really, I love the whole thing.  I mean, you take an innocuous comment—-heck, a complimentary comment—-and throw the biggest hissy fit ever about it.  ROAR!

Oh, and I loved Riverchucky’s insistence that Hillary was wearing the orange pantsuit at the convention

PUMA PAC wimmins were encouraging each other to “wear orange” on election day which I’m sure turned red as they started cutting themselves with razors and dull butter knives around 11 pm eastern.

Quick - as of 3:21 Central, there’s a comment on the pupmapac site from a caller who wasn’t very happy with how he/she was treated.

I guess the PUMAs haven’t seen the radio station’s apology to listeners for the freak show. They still seem to be laboring under the delusion that it was a huge success and that they’ll get more air time.

I also had to laugh at how genuinely puzzled they seemed at the level of dissent they receive when one of them wanders off the reservation. Why, it must be an Obot conspiracy, all those callers who disagree with our insane blabbering!

cdubsoulrebel 11.14.08 at 2:50 pm

Yep, true to form. I posted the following comment below on your website and IT WAS DELETED just like my voice was silenced when I attempted to disagree with you ON AIR. Way to support FREEDOM OF SPEECH !! I’ll post it again and see how long before you delete it again.

I listened to about 20 minutes of this show last night and was so irritated that I HAD TO CALL IN. My overall thought is GET OVER IT !! Hillary lost FAIR AND SQUARE !! McCain lost FAIR AND SQUARE !! As I said when I called in, if Hillary and Bill have GOTTEN OVER IT, then you all need to also GET OVER IT. If all these accusations that you are making about WIDESPREAD FRAUD by the Obama campaign had any merit whatsoever, WHY IN THE WORLD would Hillary and Bill see it fit to campaign for this man ? The premise is utterly ridiculous. To say that there was somehow this GRAND CONSPIRACY by the DNC, the media, and the general public, to put this very little known freshman Senator into the White House when compared to the “Clinton Machine” who have been in control of the Democratic party since 1992 is again UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. Criticize Obama cause of disagreements you have with his policies; harping on and on about how he STOLE the caucuses and stole the primaries and stole the nomination and stole the Presidential Election makes you sound like desperate imbeciles.

One more comment to the HOST of the show. If you are going to have a talk show, then LET YOUR CALLERS TALK !! The purpose of a call-in show is to have DISCUSSION with callers. If you just want to spout out a monologue then DON’T TAKE CALLS !! To try and make this points last night only to have you talk over me and interrupt my every thought just simply cause my viewpoint is different from yours, was BEYOND IRRITATING.

Got it ... screencapped it for the hell of it, too.

Thanks Tracy.

I also had to laugh at how genuinely puzzled they seemed at the level of dissent they receive when one of them wanders off the reservation.

Not really surprising.  They’ve completely sheltered themselves from anything even closely resembling a dissenting opinion.  I mean, check out this Effluence thread where they talk about what sites they don’t visit anymore ... fucking Corrente Wire and Alegre’s Corner are too pro-Obama for some of them.

I’m telling you, it’s the Ellen James Society come to life.

I swear the Ellen Jamesians leapt into my mind unbidden during the height of the primary lunacy too. We weren’t the only ones either.

I hope they realize the penalties for not filing disclosure forms are really steep, could be as much as $50 per day.

Well, while the Berg/COLB stuff seems to be the gift that keeps on giving, my favourite WTF moment was when HillaryIs44 posted a “Transcript” of Sen. Clinton’s speech at the DNC…..

....a “Transcript that had almost 400 words edited out of it.  Everything to do with unity and her support for Sen. Obama and the need to elect him were cut out of “Dear Hillary’s” speech with no sign or note they did just that.  And THEN they held up the speech as an example of how “Dear Hillary” was secretly behind them…..

Yeah, I have it on the list.

Boy, I feel stupid. I agree though, Kos has never looked better, and the last time I checked out MyDD, Armstrong was dicking around with the internals of the Kos tracker to prove that Obama was losing.

Other highpoints: alegre’s “and still she shines, just like polished gold.” post

That’s my personal favorite. Alegre’s sanctimonious paeans to Hillary were off the fucking charts.

Also, can Joan Walsh get some kind of an honorary award? She never went full-PUMA, but her continued inability to acknowledge that either Clinton did anything wrong during the primary is incredible.

PUMA Loon radio program gets punked by programmer from the very same station.

Innerside Radio remixed the screeching and wailing of PUMA loons, whom he refers to as
The Daughters of the Democratic Confederacy

The re-mix appeared the following morning when the Innerside was released for rebroadcast on numerous community radio stations in the US and Australia.

Via PPW:  apparently HRC is a “wild wood elf,” now.

I don’t know. I think [HRC] could get a lot of work done as SOS,
should she accept the position. I wouldn’t like her being under his thumb, but she’s a wild wood elf. No one can control her, only the winds and the rains.

O M G I downloaded that radio show crap and I can’t figure out how to get it off my computer…it’s spitting up hair balls. Helllllllllllppppppppppppppp

If you haven’t already, do it.  I second the recommendation.  It is truly amazing how these people take pride in closing themselves off from anything that will discomfit them.

Let’s not forget mpandgs’ efforts at linking Cristi Adkins to America’s Hope Foundation (rockin’ Rev. Tim Donovan) and the Coalition against anti-Christian Rhetoric (“we are a Muslim nation” tv ads).

now tell me, how did you get a copy of the letter to Darragh Murphy?  By the way, she did turn in the report.

now tell me, how did you get a copy of the letter to Darragh Murphy?

What part of “Just found this over at FEC web site” didn’t you understand, brainiac?  I would have linked directly to it, but then you PUMA dimwits would have brayed about how I was encouraging people to stalk her.

By the way, she did turn in the report.

Yeah, I heard PUMAs eliminated Hillary’s debt in one weekend, too.

It always amazes me when people are threated by PUMA Pac. All that time spent posting and commenting negative things about PUMA could actually be spent doing something useful for this country.

1. Volunteer at the children’s ward of your local hospital.
2. Spend time at a senior center and hang out with the folks that don’t have any family.
3. Collect and donate items to an animal shelter.
4. Write letters to members of the military who will be spending the holidays without their families.

I can guarantee you that using your energy in a positive way will make you feel better about yourself. :)

Oh, forgot to point out that PUMA is also a 527 org, and other than the initial filing, hasn’t submitted any reports.  The penalties are much heftier at the IRS…
