Confronting them all at once might overwhelm a lesser nation. But look around you.  Look at the person standing next to you.  You look around and you see the strength and resilience that will carry us through”.

Maybe that’s what he saw at that Navy base. But I see a bunch of Screaming Mimis.

Look at that aloof narcissicist! What good is he doing, talking to people and things anyway?

Sarah would have marched to the gulf, used her Bumpits as booms, and soaked up all that oil herself!

Call me an Obamabot, whatever, but I love this President. I do. He isn’t making all the changes I had hoped and he can’t seem to get away from Politics As Usual, but when I see him out in public and hear him speak, I just feel really proud that he’s the person I voted for.

It reminds me that the constant drone of critics and Teabaggers and Conservatives is just as annoying and pervasive as those stupid horns at the World Cup. They tend to drown out the things that need to be heard and they give me a headache as well.

I don’t know what standard the dense American public has set. I like Obama and I want him to succeed. If he had been given half a chance by the Republicans, we could have made twice as much progress.

One caveat I would add, Kevin: read the diary and look at the pictures, but unless you want to follow your sorbet with some bile, ignore the comments.

I can’t believe how OUT OF TOUCH this man is with the American people!

Agreed.  Unfortunately I got about halfway through before I realized that.

I’m not an Obot, and I’m liberal/progressive to the point of socialist but I know someone with my political outlook hasn’t got a snowball’s chance in hell of every being elected in the US.  Sure, I wish Obama was more progressive, but if Gramps and Scarah had been elected, well, I shudder to think of where we’d be now.

Given all that though, I like the guy; I like the fact that he can speak in complete sentences with cogent ideas without a Texas-sized chip on his shoulder.  Damn, how sad is it that Dubya brought the office of POTUS so low that these things are considered unusual instead of prerequisites for the job?

I also don’t recall any visit by Dubya to any military audience where servicemen and women went so nuts trying to get a photograph as they do with Obama.  I’m sure that fact chaps teh ass of every droid at Reason and National Review.

Thanks for that link, Kevin.  It did the trick after all the BS about optics last night and this morning that angered the shit out of me.

As advised, I didn’t read the comments.

I agree with you all.  He’s a good man.  The camera don’t lie.

Thanks for the link.
