Uke master Gus tackles the semi-obscure, skiffle-style parody instrumental called “Cry for a Shadow” that was co-written by Harrison & Lennon (their only shared writing credit). Enjoy.

They’re back! Fin is on the ukulele, but Gus has moved on from the cigar box uke to the cigar box guitar. Enjoy.

Because making a ukulele with a cigar box just wasn’t enough for Gus…

Chris and I are gradually recovering from attending a fantastic bluegrass festival up in Vermont (we got back late last night) with our good pals Amy and Rob. Had an amazing time listening to great music, sleeping under the stars for four nights next to a babbling river, and ogling at the gorgeous rolling green hills all around us. And, of course, there were the endless amounts of booze and food. Will write more about it later after I get settled in. Thanks to the front-pagers for doing a phenomenal job holding down the fort while I was gone. Here’s some semi-bluegrass from Gus & Fin to weave me back into this thing called “blogging.”
p.s. Nothing like going from hearing rushing water rolling over rocks and the feint sound of mandolins and banjos in the distance when you wake up in the morning to hearing construction workers repointing the building directly behind you to start your day. Ahhhhhhh, it’s great to be home.

This may be one of Gus & Fin’s best and that’s saying a lot...

One thing’s for certain, if Gus & Fin upload a new video to YouTube, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find it embedded here. If it’s a cover of a cheesy (but catchy) glam-pop semi-hit from the 70s, its chances of finding its way here improve dramatically.

Just what the doctor (veterinarian?) ordered. One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums covered by two of my favorite ukulelists. Enjoy.

I love Wire, I love ukulele masters Gus & Finn, I really love the album Chairs Missing (which has been on heavy rotation since I “rediscovered” it a few months ago), I love this song, and I really love Gus & Finn’s version of it. Yes, that’s a whole lotta love.
FOR DISCUSSION IN COMMENTS: What album(s) have you “redicovered” lately? They can either be releases you didn’t care for when they first came out or albums you just kind of lost track of with time.

Simple, unadorned and, as usual with these two mad Scots, spot fucking on…
You can check out more of Gus and/or Fin here and here.

Fuck politics, let’s uke. Here’s Fin Raucous, the mad ukulele-strumming Scotsman, banging out a cover of “Stop the Rock” in his shed. This is just way too cool for school:
Here’s a video of the original (Fin’s version kicks its ass) and click here if you want to see more of Fin playing ukulele with his pal Gus.
